Why I paint

Landscape painting gives pleasure, at least that is why I paint. Being able to catch the moment of surrounding world provides great satisfaction. I am absolutely self-taught about the painting, in other words grown up enthusiast. I believe that for this kind of relaxation is never too late. Blogging will help track my progress as an painter.

Malování krajiny mi přináší radost a proto vlastně maluji.

Quick sketching in plein-air

I had an opportunity to sit in the meadow and draw for a while.
Lovely spring afternoon, direct back light, plenty of green, deep shadows.
I had watercolour pencil, sepia charcoal and watercolour paper-block A4 and A5.

Then I made a documentary photo and added some watercolour paint at home.
Great mistake was to use watercolour pencil for sketching. When I painted background (sky and grass) gray pencil smudged on the paper little bit.
Second mistake was to use basic green colour from Umton. The result was so unrealistic that it was necessary to add yellow and blue colour mix to paint.

And as always, futile struggle I led with shadows - not enough dark.
Painting was quick without details, bushes in the middle plan too fast.
Used material: paper - MixMedia 300g/m2 A4 and A4, Umton in pans, brushes - round.
